ON Tuesday, December 7th, Teagasc equine specialist, Wendy Conlon will interview top sport horse breeders, Dr Noel Cawley of Newpark Lodge Stud, Co Kildare and Rio Olympian Greg Broderick of Ballypatrick Stables, Co Tipperary, on the ‘Let’s Talk Equine’ webinar at 8.30pm.

CPBS Christmas Show dates

THE Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society Christmas Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 11th and 12th at Creagh Equestrian Centre, Ballinasloe, Co Galway. Entries for Saturday will be taken on the day. Sunday classes are pre-entry via https://itsplainsailing.com/org/cpbs.

AIRC adopts proposals

AIRC’s Riding Clubs adopted new grading proposals put forward by the Board offering significant change to how the Association operates. Changes include streamlining grade names for greater clarity and giving greater choice of competitions as well defining the role and eligibility criteria for the Club Grading Officer and Regional Grading Officer.

AIRC chairman Tony Ennis said: “A huge thanks must go to all of our clubs who considered these proposals over the past month and we are grateful that they have been resoundingly endorsed. We will now get to work to ensure that we have these changes in place for next year.”

Road crash kills three horses

SADLY, Gardaí reported they attended the scene of a collision involving an SUV and three horses on the R772 road between Oylegate and Enniscorthy, Co Wexford at approximately 8.45pm on Wednesday, December 1st. All three horses sustained fatal injuries. The motorist was treated at the scene by Ambulance Service personnel but did not require hospital treatment.

Ward’s WEG gold medallist retired

MCLAIN Ward announced the retirement of 14-year-old Clinta who helped the USA to team gold at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon.
