A NEW chapter has recently begun at trainer John Kiely’s storied Dungarvan base, with the popular horseman entering into an official training partnership with his nephew Tommy.

Runners from the Co Waterford operation are now running under the name of John E. and Thomas Kiely, and chances for the partnership to register a first winner together come at Limerick on Saturday and potentially Ballinrobe on Monday.

Their first runner under the new joint-licence was at Tipperary last month.

John Kiely told The Irish Field: “It’s just something we’ve done with an eye to the future, with us working together. Hopefully we’re giving the younger generation a nice start and so that it will be able to continue.

“I think Tommy has been with us for almost 20 years. The partnership means that I won’t have to be travelling as much as I used to.”

On star Champion Bumper winner A Dream To Share, who is currently on his summer break at owner J.P. McManus’ Martinstown Stud, Kiely added: “I haven’t heard anything about him yet but we’ll be looking forward to when he hopefully arrives back to us.”
