TARA Stud has announced that the outstanding Grade 1 winning miler River Boyne is joining its stallion roster for 2021.
The son of Dandy Man is a multiple pattern and listed race winner. He won nine races and over €1 million in prize money from two to five years.
Described by his trainer Jeff Mullins as “the real definition of a racehorse with push-button acceleration”, his five pattern race wins were the Grade 1 Frank Kilroe Mile, Grade 2 Mathis Brothers Mile, Grade 2 Twilight Derby, Grade 3 La Jolla Stakes and the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes.
The Irish-bred was placed in 16 of his 18 starts in pattern and listed races on turf and was one of the outstanding milers of his generation in the USA.
River Boyne becomes the first son of champion sprinter and multiple Group 1 sire Dandy Man to take up stud duties. His dam Clytha is a daughter of the champion miler Mark Of Esteem and a half-sister to the champion miler Ventiquattrofogli.
Tara Stud owner Derek Iceton stated: “River Boyne has arrived safely and we will be announcing details of his syndication and nomination fee shortly but I’m thrilled to have secured him after closely following his career since his impressive victory as a two-year-old. He has all the qualities that you would wish to see in a stallion: ultra-sound, impressive physique and a great attitude."
His covering fee will be announced shortly.
