HORSE Sport Ireland has announced Tipperary native Dr Linsey Mason as HSI’s Human Anti-Doping & Medical Officer. The role of the Anti-Doping & Medical Officer ensures that High Performance athletes of Horse Sport Ireland and affiliates are educated about all anti-doping rules and adherance to the rules.

Dr Linsey Mason brings a wealth of experience to the position, holding a Masters in Sports Medicine from Trinity College Dublin, has extensive anti-doping professional training and a special interest in the assessment of sports-related injuries, evidence-based rehabilitation and recovery strategies.

A native of Cahir, Dr Mason possesses extensive equestrian experience and is an active racecourse doctor with the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board and has worked for several years as a doctor on the IHRB panel at point-to-points and racecourses.

Dr Mason has been the Chief Medical Officer for Millstreet International Horse Trials since 2018, has worked as a doctor at the Dublin Horse Show, along with national and international eventing competitions.

Love of equestrianism

Dr Linsey Mason commented: “I’m absolutely delighted to work with Horse Sport Ireland in an official capacity as the Anti-Doping & Medical Officer. I have a love of equestrian and sport medicine so this role is the ultimate combination. I know many in the thoroughbred and the sport horse industry and I really look forward supporting the High Performance athletes as they journey towards Paris 2024.”
