The successful candidate, reporting to the board of directors and chairperson, will be expected to understand member and stakeholder needs, while having the ability to manage a complex portfolio of organisational responsibilities including commercial and strategic priorities, operational effectiveness, stakeholder management, communications, and financial/governance controls.

The job advert states that knowledge of the national and international equestrian sporting landscape will be deemed essential, as well as an understanding of the multi-faceted make-up of the industry, sport and membership across breeding, leisure, and production member activity.

The role is described as a “high profile position as the administration head of the largest equestrian sporting body in Ireland.”

The position is based at the SJI headquarters in Naas, Co Kildare, with a salary scale of €70,000-€80,000. The closing date for applications is October 11th 2022.

SJI began recruiting for a Chief Executive Officer in 2019 but never filled the role, which has been non-existent for many years. Christy Murphy is the current chairman of the organisation.
