THREE horses were killed after colliding with vehicles on a road near Belfast International Airport on Tuesday evening.

It is understood the accident happened sometime around 5.30pm on Ballyrobin Road. One member of the general public who was waiting at a bus stop filmed six horses going across the road and uploaded the footage to Twitter. It is not known where they came from.

The road was closed for a short time after the collision. No injuries to the drivers were reported. Enquires into the incident are ongoing.

On Friday morning, a spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) told The Irish Field: “Three horses died as a result of collisions involving vehicles travelling on the Ballyrobin Road on Tuesday evening, January 11th. The road was closed for a short time whilst officers cleared a number of other horses from the carriageway but has since re-opened. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
