CO MEATH natives Jordan Kidd and Tara Carroll have been announced as the latest recipients of the Gerry Dilger Scholarship.

Open to Irish citizens, the scholarship grants fully paid tuition, room and board for the Irish National Stud’s Thoroughbred Breeding Management course, of which Dilger himself was a graduate. The popular Co Clare native, who passed away in 2020, ran a successful breeding and consigning operation from his Dromoland Farm in Kentucky.

The 2025 recipient Jordan Kidd has ridden as an amateur jockey, partnering winners for Gavin Cromwell and John McConnell, as well as working for trainers Pat Martin and Noel Meade. In Kidd’s own words, he “loves going to work every day and desires to continue to make his mark with determination and versatility.”

Tara Carroll, who has competed successfully as an event rider, graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in Agricultural Science-Equine. Her CV includes roles with trainers such as the Chantilly-based Tim Donworth and Francis-Henri Graffard, while her bloodstock experience includes working for a number of consignors and bloodstock agents at leading sales.

She states “It is my goal to be successful in the thoroughbred industry, to make a lasting impact and to give back to the industry that I love.”
