Court date set for Belfast punter
BET365’s court case with Megan McCann, who was denied a £1 million payout as a 19-year-old student in 2016, will go to the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast on November 13th. The bookmaker believes the £24,960 McCann placed on 960 £13 each-way Lucky 15s breached third party betting rules, and a spokesman said: “A full investigation has been carried out into the circumstances of the bet that was placed. Bet365 is entirely satisfied the circumstances are such that winnings are not payable in relation to it. We expect this position to be upheld at trial. We are not prepared to comment further whilst litigation is ongoing.” McCann has hired lawyer Andrew Montague, who secured a £3.9 million payout from Betfred for Barney Curley in 2012.
