THE unique Lumet Show, jointly organised by Arqana and David Lumet, returns to Ecuries de la Ridaudière at Bécon Les-Granits on July 27th.

The sale offers pre-trained two and three-year-old jumpers that are shown in all three of their paces before going through the ring, with videos of them jumping available to view on the day.

Since its inception, the sale has produced 20 Group/Graded winners and just under 50 blacktype performers. Graduates are led by Grade 1 Clarence House Chase victor Editeur Du Gite and Emmet Mullins’ unbeaten Grade 2 bumper winner Jeroboam Machin.

Despite its success, the sale experienced some disappointing figures last year, with turnover dropping by 13% from the same number of horses offered. The lower clearance rate of 59.32% (from 77.97%) helped the average price rise by 10% to €20,200, while the median rose from €13,000 to €16,000.

Sires old and new

Sixty two colts, geldings and fillies are catalogued, their sires including proven Grade 1 stallions Buck’s Boum, Gemix, Great Pretender, Kapgarde, Masked Marvel and Spanish Moon.

Coolagown Stud’s Dave Stack will watch with anticipation as a gelding from the first crop of Way To Paris goes under the hammer as Lot 31. The grey is out of a half-sister to three blacktype performers, include Grade 1 third Odeillo Du Mathan.

Readers will also be familiar with Haras du Mesnil recruit Telecaster, a son of Shirocco Star who won three group races for Hughie Morrison. He is represented by a single two-year-old from his first crop, a filly out of a blacktype mare (Lot 39).
