JOHN Ormonde Wexford Sand Ltd has over 20 years’ experience in the manufacturing of All-weather equestrian surfaces and Arena and Gallop construction. From the start, we have designed all-weather surfaces using six different blends of fibres and the highest quality Wexford silica sand. This meticulous approach has led to our all-weather surfaces being used nationwide over the last two decades and continue to perform exceptionally well today.

This journey began with a deep understanding of what was required to create a surface that would endure the Irish climate and meet the demands of Irish horse workmanship. John Ormonde Wexford Sand Ltd’s unique surfaces have not only proven their longevity and quality in Ireland, but have also garnered recognition and success abroad.

One of the key aspects that set us apart is the state-of-the-art mixing and batching technology we use. This technology ensures that all measurement is precise and efficient, resulting in consistently high-quality surfaces.

Our all-weather surfaces offer impact absorption, stability and support, grip and traction, consistency, drainage, moisture control, durability and easy maintenance.

All these factors reduce stress on the horses’ joints, tendon and muscles in turn preventing injuries from repetitive landing.

The specific blend of fibres and sand we use in our surfaces enhance shock absorption and provide adequate firmness to prevent deep hoof penetration, while still allowing some give.

This allows for controlled take-offs and landings, without excessive slippage resulting in missteps and falls. Our unique base design, with proper drainage, prevents pooling and maintains the moisture levels within the surface, without frequent watering.

The unique blend of fibres and high-quality sand, combined with advanced mixing and batching techniques, have resulted in surfaces that stand the test of time and perform admirably under various conditions, which is ideal in the Irish climate.

In the last year alone, we have completed more than 50 projects, consisting of all-weather gallop construction, arena construction, show jumping surfaces, racing surfaces, all-weather surfaces and lunge rings, some of which were completed under the TAMS 3 grant, for which we are an approved contractor with the Department of Agriculture.
