SALLY Carroll has a new role on the racecourse as part of the team looking after winning owners and race sponsors at the Curragh.

After 20 years as student liaison officer at the Irish National Stud, Sally retired in 2018 but she is enjoying her new position.

It involves bringing owners and sponsors from the parade ring to the Queen’s Room for a celebratory drink and a chance to watch a re-run of their race. “Customer service is very important and I think the sponsors appreciate being included in the post-race celebration,” she said. “Princess Zahra Aga Khan came to the Queen’s Room after the Irish 1000 Guineas, which was lovely for Tattersalls.”

Sally was too modest to mention that her son Gary won two races at the Curragh on Saturday and Sunday, and from only two rides!
