WELL done to trainers Pat Martin and Kevin Coleman who shared first prize in the 2022 Gain The Advantage Series, which concluded at Leopardstown on Saturday.

Both trainers finished on 18 points and split the overall trainers’ prize of €5,000 worth of Gain Equine Nutrition products. The breeder draw was won by Helen Keaveney (breeder of Geological) who won a tonne of Gain products, and the stable staff draw was won by Rachel Phelan (Gold Lunala) who won a two-night luxury stay at the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge.

The series was run over eight racecourses from April to October. Points were awarded through a grading process designed to give equal opportunity to all trainers to win the overall prize. The number of points per win or placing at each leg was based on the number of winners the trainer recorded throughout 2021.

Joanne Hurley of Gain commented: “We are delighted with how the series has been received throughout the industry and how many trainers supported each leg. It is a great initiative that rewards all stakeholders of our sport. I am thrilled for Kevin Coleman and Pat Martin, joint winners of the trainers’ league. Both of them having runners in the final at Leopardstown made it a really exciting race.”
