THERE is no truth in the rumour that racegoers from Clare are not welcome in Kilkenny on July 27th for the annual Ladies Day at Gowran Park.
Hurling rivalries will be forgotten, on a day when the best-dressed racegoer will win a two-night stay in the five-star Lyrath Estate, with spa treatments and a €1,000 voucher for MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre thrown in.
Local stylist Marietta Doran will act as guest judge and racecourse manager Eddie Scally reports that corporate hospitality is already sold out, so the track has introduced a ‘BBQ & Bubbles’ package priced at €30, which includes, admission, reserved seating, a burger and glass of prosecco or a cocktail. There will be a DJ performing in the style marquee, live music on the prosecco Lawn and a live band in the Thyestes Bar.
