THE Gerry Dilger Equine Scholarship Foundation will support two applicants for this year’s Irish National Stud’s Thoroughbred Breeding Course.

Josefina Posada from Colombia and Eric Resendiz from Kentucky are the latest students to benefit from the foundation established in memory of Gerry Dilger, the Co Clare man who established Dromoland Farm in Kentucky and had a reputation for mentoring young people up to his untimely death in 2020.

Like Gerry, Josefina has travelled extensively in her quest to learn and progress in the bloodstock world. She attended Hartpury University in Gloucester, where she graduated with first class honours in Equine Science.

She has also gained valuable experience at Barton Stud and is currently an intern at Lane’s End Farm in Kentucky.

Eric is a graduate of the Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s equine programme in Lexington. He has already diligently pursued many avenues of work experience and education with Godolphin, WinStar, St George Sales and Amplify Horse Racing.
