EMMET McNamara is raising funds for a cause very close to his heart, as he runs 10km in honour of his mother Pauline, who passed away last month.
The event on Sunday, February 16th, is part of a fundraising campaign by the Milford Care Centre, where Pauline received care until her recent passing. Emmet got the chance to tell his mother about his plans a few days before her passing.
“She got a great kick out of it,” Emmet recalls. “Obviously ,at the time I was hoping she might be there to cheer me on from the sidelines. Unfortunately, she’s not there but she will be watching from above.
“The race itself begins and ends at the University of Limerick campus where she worked happily for over 30 years. She got an amazing send off by her colleagues the day after she passed away, when we did a lap of honour through the campus.”
Jockeys Gary Carroll and Billy Lee are also running the race in honour of the late Pauline McNamara. Over 2,300 participants are expected to take part.
