THE great Tiger Roll will be returning to Limerick Racecourse tomorrow (Sunday, October 20th) to parade for racegoers, ahead of the BoyleSports J.T. McNamara Munster National.

The retired superstar chaser is the most famous winner of the Munster National. His show-stopping seven-length victory at Limerick in 2016 was his first big race success over fences, in a career that saw the Gordon Elliott-trained star go on to win back-to-back Aintree Grand Nationals and become a five-time Cheltenham Festival winner. He’ll be back in the parade ring at approximately 3.20pm, just before the big race gets underway on Sunday.

Michael Lynch, CEO of Limerick racecourse, said: “We’re thrilled that racing royalty Tiger Roll will be returning to the scene of the crime on Sunday for the BoyleSports J.T. McNamara Munster National,”

This year’s Munster National will be an extra special event with J.P. McManus and family hosting a charity sweepstake on the race that will see 18 local charities from the mid-west region receive a share of close to €40,000.

Each of the lucky charities involved will be matched to a horse in the big race. The charity matched to the winning horse will benefit from a €20,000 donation, with second and third place receiving €3,000 and €2,000 respectively.

Each of the remaining charities will also receive a €1,000 donation to put towards a specific project or initiative.

Acquired Brain Injury Ireland, Down Syndrome Limerick, Clare Care and the Limerick Youth Service are amongst the 18 chosen charities in the running.

There is also racing today (Saturday) at Limerick, which is enhanced by a best-dressed competition, judged by Celia Holman Lee and Sinead O’Brien of Sinead’s Curvy Style. Post raceday music will be provided by Abbaesque.

Sunday’s post raceday music will be provided by Riffshop.
