Judith Faherty speaks to Grade V para dressage rider Sarah Slattery after her seventh place finish at the Paralympic Games in Paris last weekend.
Sarah grew up in a horse-loving show jumping family in Tynagh, Co Galway. At the age of 8, a cancer diagnosis meant the removal of tendons and ligaments in her left arm. Leaving her with reduced power in the arm. Nearly 20 years later, she discovered para dressage and after just four years, rode at her first Paralympic Games. Sarah speaks about leaving her life and home in Galway, packing up the children, dogs and cat and moving to The Netherlands to concentrate on getting to Paris.
