AT this time of the year, it is typically the performances in four-year-old races that can command top billing but Demandrivingdouvan (94++) certainly stood out with an emphatic debut at Borris House. Things looked to be happening particularly easy for him at the head of affairs, and while visually it may not have seemed like he quickened the tempo significantly on the final lap, the manner in which so many of his rivals came under pressure a long way out, was a testament to his cruising speed. It resulted in 24 lengths separating the first three home such was his dominance. A big future looks to lie in wait for him.
Back foot
On the same card Peaky Boy (93+) impressed with just how swiftly he overcame being put on the back foot when having to switch out to get a clear run leaving the back straight, as he arrived upsides before the home bend from where he quickly put the race to bed. This suggests he is not short on pace which will allow him to drop back in trip.
At Castlelands, Stellar Story (92+) looks a strong stayer having won going away, while Givehimthehonour (91+) was left clear by the fall of the challenging eye-catcher Feel Good Inc (90x). Kudasheva (85++) also had her task simplified at Ballycahane by a final-fence faller.
However she travelled particularly well throughout and never had to be asked for maximum effort to ensure she has to be given maximum respect.
Affordale Fury (92+) is clearly a strong stayer having prevailed in a race run to a good tempo throughout, and Jet Of Dreams (91+) and Gentle Slopes (92+) won their respective maidens at Tyrella with something in hand over their rivals.
