RACEGOERS on the Cork-Waterford circuit could have been forgiven for getting a case of déjà vu at Dromahane when Wrappedupinmay (95++) ran out an impressive winner of the four-year-old maiden.

His success, officially recorded as a distance, came hot on the heels of the 12-length victory of stable companion The Gooner seven days earlier at Curraghmore’s fixture as Matthew Flynn O’Connor unleashed yet another impressive individual to win this season.

Two late fallers lengthened that winning margin at Dromahane, but it certainly did not alter the end result as the Ocovango gelding had already settled the outcome of the race well before the final fence by powering clear from the third-last.

He could have a very big future ahead, and this Dromahane card produced a number of standout performances.

Step forward

Heads Or Harps (92++) took a significant step forward following a change of stables and delivered a performance worthy of the market confidence that was behind him.

He set a good tempo from the front, one that prevented his rivals from ever landing a serious blow, with Myretown (91+) also worthy of mention in the second division of that five-year-old geldings’ maiden as he looked to win with plenty in reserve.

At Monksgrange, Jenny Wyse (84++) galloped a field of newcomers into submission, so much so that 20 lengths separated her from the only other finisher out of a starting field of eight.

Rattling Road (90+) made a decisive move leaving the back straight and quickly had victory wrapped-up, as Don’tstopbelievin (92+) faced a stiffer test but was aided by a crucially quicker jump at the final fence.

A Rated (106) meanwhile is thriving on good ground at present and arguably put his best performance of the season in winning the Fairyhouse feature.
