AFTER four months on the sidelines with a very serious injury, Tipperary show jumper Trevor Breen got back in the saddle this week.

Trevor fractured his C7, C6, C4 and T4 in a fall on May 11th at a show in Hamburg, Germany. At the time, his wife Caroline told The Irish Field that he was in the 10% of people who survive the C7 break and that he was “unbelievably lucky”. After the fall, he was put in an induced coma and underwent surgery on three fractures in his lower neck and back.

Just four months later and after intense physio, a determined Trevor, who is based in West Sussex where he and Caroline run Breen Sport Horses, is back riding. In a video posted online, he said: “The comeback is better than the set back. A huge thank you to everyone who’s supported us and gotten us to this point.”
