THANKS to the great results on the 2022 showing scene of Laura Snow and the wonderful Irish Draught stallion Drynam Hero, the Drynam Riding Club has basked in the reflected glory of its secretary and her home-bred six-year-old.
However, at the recent finals of the North East Region’s Jump For Joy league, two other members of the north Co Dublin club came to the fore, namely Caroline Farrelly, who won the HorseMad RC70 section on her 15-year-old piebald gelding Mineview Major Tom, and Bethan Williams who claimed the Drynam Park Golf Centre RC70 open title on board her 20-year-old grey gelding Tuff Diamond.
The other winners were Killeek’s Amanda Ryan and her 10-year-old Irish Draught gelding Brodhí Himself (GoTo Trailers newcomers), Ard Lú’s Caimhe McGrange and her seven-year-old palomino gelding Castlerea Silver (Damien Goodwin Saddlery RC80), Ashbrook’s Megan Heeney and the 14-year-old grey gelding Good News Charlie (Get Freh Superfoods RC80 Open), Killossery’s Susan Cusack and her 15-year-old grey mare My Claren Beauty (Bryan Equine RC90), Thornton’s Jill Brown and her eight-year-old Tolan R mare Darcystown Girl (Marian Felger Physiotherapy RC90 Open) and Tara Hill’s Sally Cunningham’s and her 21-year-old Limmerick gelding, Graf Landlord.
This was the third running of the Jump For Joy league which was devised to provide a safe, relaxed competition which could be run at a reasonably low cost to hosts and competitors alike. Two of the three qualifying legs were also staged in the National Horse Sport Arena with the Ard Lú Club holding their round in Piperstown.
