FIVE Ireland-based judges accepted an invitation to officiate at last week’s British Show Horse Association’s three-day national championship show at the Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire.

Armagh side saddle instructor Robyn Catterall, who missed the weekend’s photoshoot above, was engaged for what was termed ‘hunter day’ on the Thursday when she judged the BSHA supreme ladies hunter of the year plus the novice weight and amateur hunter classes.

North Co Dublin’s Kevin McGuinness started his stint as judge at the opening session being joined on Friday and Saturday by Co Down’s recently-married Rachel Moore, Co Meath-based Philippa Scott and Co Tipperary’s Michael Lyons.

The quartet judged a variety of classes between ridden, in-hand and working hunter horses, hacks, cobs, Arabs and ex-racehorses plus riders open to all, young riders and mature riders. Over 150 individual classes were advertised in the programme which resulted in 40 championships and nine supreme championships.
