COUD you provide a kind home for Belfast donkeys?
People interested in providing a home for rescued donkeys are being invited to The Donkey Sanctuary Belfast, to find out what it takes to become a Donkey Guardian.
The information days, held at the centre in Templepatrick will take place on Sunday, November 28th and Sunday, December 12th.
Donkey Guardians play a key role in supporting The Donkey Sanctuary. The rehoming scheme helps to free up vital space in the charity’s sanctuaries for donkeys needing specialist care.
The scheme places fit, healthy and suitable donkeys in pairs or small groups in private homes with Donkey Guardians throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
The donkeys remain in the ownership of The Donkey Sanctuary, and the Guardians are given full support and guidance from the charity’s dedicated team of Donkey Welfare Advisers.
Each information day runs between 12pm and 3pm and will include meeting the team who care for the Belfast donkeys and finding out how they look after the resident herd.
Lorraine Nelson, centre manager at The Donkey Sanctuary Belfast, said: “People will be able to hear all about the work of The Donkey Sanctuary, and how Donkey Guardians play such a crucial role for us.
“Our expert team will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice, and to help people decide if becoming a Donkey Guardian is right for them. While at the centre, we will of course make sure that everyone has the chance to meet our resident donkeys up close.”
