OWNER Maggie McKenna, jockey Conor Orr, trainer Thomas Coyle and his partner, show horse rider Philippa Scott, who led the mare up, all missed out on a winner’s enclosure photograph at Kilbeggan last Friday evening as Krujers Girl was only placed first following a stewards’ enquiry, having been beaten a head on the line.

The 10-year-old Definite Article bay, who was having her first start for Thomas and her first following a 367-day break, was deemed to have suffered interference from The Great White in the closing stages of the two-mile, three-furlong handicap chase where the last fence had been omitted because of the low-lying sun.

Philippa, who has won four turn-out awards at race meetings since the start of the year, was riding out at the Coyle yard in Batterstown, Co Meath, where there are eight horses in work, on Monday and Tuesday of this week. However, she then headed west to her family’s Barnfield House Equestrian Centre outside Ballina where her father, Philip, is keeping her three show animals on the go. The trio is due to appear at Tattersalls July Show this weekend.
