Attention young breeders

ARE you or do you know a young horse enthusiast with a passion for developing their knowledge of horse presentation, breeding and overall horsemanship?

If so, the Equine Young Breeders National Championships is open for bookings. The Championships are taking place on March 23rd at Kildalton College, Kilkenny. This wonderful programme does not require that you own your own horse. For more information and sign up details visit teagasc.ie.

Young Breeders is a joint Teagasc and Horse Sport Ireland initiative funded under National Breeding Services by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.

Dressage entries open

DON’T forget that entries for National Winter Finals opened on the DI website yesterday, March 1st.

Entries for the first camp at Castle Irvine also opened yesterday, March 1st, on itsplainsailing. This camp has garnered a huge amount of interest due to the fabulous line-up of coaches so please be sure to book early.

The camp will include a private lesson and test riding session each day for each person plus evening talks.

The coaches for the two days are Mark Robinson, Mark Ruddock, Fiona Hayes, Anna Merveldt, Joanne Jarden and Sarah Rodger. Stabling must be booked directly with castle Irvine.

Introduction to Coaching course

THE next Horse Sport Ireland Introduction to Coaching Course moves to the Rebel County, this March 19th at Maryville Stables, Carrigaline, Co Cork. The course is the first step onto the HSI coaching ladder. It provides candidates with the first basic insights to the skills and technical knowledge needed to coach, introducing you to the basic principles of best practice in coaching and the coaching requirements for modern competition.

This one-day course offers the opportunity to practice your own coaching skills under the expert guidance of HSI and Sport Ireland Coaching accredited Coach Developers and leave with a better understanding of what it takes to become a professional coach. Visit www.horsesportireland.ie
