IT was a proud day for Marguerite and John Ryan in Abu Dhabi last Sunday when both their home-breds – son Jack and horse BBS McGregor – helped Ireland win the five-star Nations Cup.

It was a debut at the level for both horse and rider who only earned their first senior team cap in the three-star Nations Cup in Vilamoura last November, where they also won. That is an impressive 100% senior strike rate for the pair!

Marguerite, John and Jack’s siblings Ciara and Conor were all in Abu Dhabi to watch the winning performance, as well as his girlfriend, Georgia Tame, who was on the British team that finished third at the venue.

Jack has moved on from Breen Equestrian after two years. As for his next move?

“At the moment I have nothing set in stone but there are a few options. I’m in the UAE for another few weeks, so I have some time to decide where to go from here,” he told The Irish Field, as well as extending his thanks to Shane and Chloe Breen, Team Z7 and the whole team.
