WELL-known Monaghan sport horse producer Kenny Burgess was delighted to see one of his home-breds triumph at the recent Lisronagh point-to-point in Co Tipperary.

Kenny’s home-bred Court Cave gelding Haveanothergoglo, in the hands of Barry O’Neill, proved an impressive winner for his handler Colin Bowe, along with owner and neighbour Gerard Blake.

Kenny and his brother Ian are well known within the sport horse stallion ranks and stood a number of high profile stallions with their late father, Sam, including SkyLark, Touchstone and Gypsy Duke.

Rory’s good result

A WET March night at Goresbridge Horse Sales last week is a far cry from the green acres of the Curragh but for last year’s 2000 Guineas winning jockey Rory Cleary, a result is a result.

Equally at home aboard a sport horse, Cleary was delighted when his four-year-old hunter/ competition horse by Clonaslee Captain Christo delivered a smart price of €11,000. Sourced from the same venue last year and well hunted over the winter, he was a great conveyance.

“He was bought to hunt and is a great hunter, but the flat season has started so time for him to move on,” said the Jim Bolger-based Cleary.
