A DIVERSE catalogue of broodmares, horses in training and weanlings feature in the catalogue for Goffs UK’s January Sale, which takes place on the 21st of the month.

The three top-priced lots at least year’s sale were knocked down to Irish buyers, with Brook Lodge Farm and Rathmore Stud each going to £68,000 for colts by Vadamos and Walk In The Park from Little Lodge Farm, while Drumlin Bloodstock gave £64,000 for Goldford Stud’s No Risk At All colt.

The recently published catalogue features a Nathaniel half-brother (Lot 87) to one of the sales toppers, with Jackie Chugg’s operation also set to offer a colt by the same sire, who counts Grade 1 hurdler Guard Your Dreams as a sibling. Others expected to prove popular with pinhookers include weanlings by Blue Bresil, Golden Horn and Kapgarde.

Success stories from the sale include last season’s dual listed winner Harvard Guy and listed scorer Lucky Zebo, bought as weanlings for £8,000 and £3,800 respectively. Mel Rowley’s Grade 2 winner Malaita was sourced by Highflyer Bloodstock from the horses in training section for just £10,000.

Paul and Ellmarie Holden’s Coolmeen Farms have nine lots listed, including Eternal Angel, who was narrowly denied in an Ascot bumper on debut for Nicky Henderson, and Ilfu Un Mome, who bolted up by 15 lengths first time out at Lisronagh.

Anthony Honeyball’s trio includes dual listed winner Coquelicot, who is a half-sister to Tony Martin’s Melbourne Cup runner-up Heartbreak City.

Baroda Stud’s seven-strong broodmare draft features three mares in foal to Golden Horn, including the listed winner and Grade 2 performer Misty Whisky.
