THE smart Dewcup continued his smooth transition to jumping as he made it two wins from as many starts over timber in the Dooley Insurance Group Hurdle to leave Ted Walsh musing over options for the Michael Ryan-owned gelding.

After chasing home the now pattern-class Barrington Court on the flat at Bellewstown, Dewcup won a maiden hurdle in good style at this track last month. The absence of the high-class Beacon Edge made this an easier assignment than it threatened to be and Mark Walsh’s mount took advantage of a good opportunity. The 5/4 favourite took over the lead from Curlew Hill on the run to the last and despite getting that flight wrong the son of Finsceal Fior won by a cosy two and a quarter lengths.
