NOW in his second season hunting the East Galway Foxhounds, huntsman Eoghan McCabe and his team put on a very professionally run Puppy Show for a large group of enthusiastic spectators.

Eoghan has proved very popular with the farming community, provided top class sport last season and is developing a reputation as a hound breeder.

Huntsmen visiting were Paul Scallan from the Island, Paddy Considine the County Clare, Dan Moloney from the Golden Vale and Peter Cahill, former huntsman of the Kildare Foxhounds who Eoghan whipped into for a number of seasons.

Judging the new entry of 3 ½ couple of doghounds and 5 couple of bitches were East Galway joint-master Niall Earls and Denis O’Sullivan, huntsman of the North Tipperary. Assisting the huntsmen were honorary whippers-in Ann Hanniffy and Paudie Lynch, Ormond whipper-in Keith Broderick and Patrick Duffy and Darragh Kenny.

The winning doghound was the broken coated Goblet by East Sussex and Romney Marsh Gollum ‘17 out of East Galway Fantasy ‘19. The bitch champion was Paddle, a smashing blue mottle in colour by the same sire out of Four Burrows Pancake ‘19.

Eoghan’s hound breeding yielded results at the National Hound Show at Stradbally as Goblet was fourth in the Unentered Doghound Restricted Class. Paddle was second in Stradbally with her litter sister Passion in the Couples Open Class.

A marquee was laid on for over 100 supporters with a bar, food and music.
