THE Amo Racing team is hoping they can continue their fine run with two classy contenders at Naas tomorrow. Dallas Star, who ran out a commanding winner of the Ballysax Stakes this time last year, made a successful return at Dundalk last month and lines up in the Listed TOTE Irish EBF Devoy Stakes.

Speaking to The Irish Field, Amo Racing’s Ryan McElligott reflected: “Obviously, that was his first run for a long time, so he should improve plenty from Dundalk, which was a nice performance in itself. We would like to think he’s lining up with every chance.”

Partnered by Amo’s retained rider David Egan, Adrian Murray’s charge faces nine rivals in the €45,000 contest, including last year’s winner Sunchart for Andy Slattery and Joseph O’Brien’s progressive group scorer Trustyourinstinct. Sea The Lady, who placed in the Preis der Diana as a three-year-old and was twice group-placed last term, makes her first start for Jessica Harrington.

A number of promising juveniles make their three-year-old returns in the finale, the TRM - Supplements You Can Trust Race over a mile. Amo, Egan and Murray are represented by the Earthlight filly Spicy Margarita, who is co-owned by Giselle De Aguiar.

The 150,000gns yearling won a fillies’ maiden at Dundalk in good style in February and followed up with a fine second to connections’ impressive newcomer Titanium Emperor. Criterium International runner-up Mount Kilimanjaro finished third.

“She’s come together well,” McElligott commented. “She improved a nice bit from her first run to her second run, and stepped up again then the last day, when she ran a conditions race. She’s got a bit to do on ratings, but she does have fitness on her side. She’s a filly on the upgrade and hopefully she’s more than capable of holding her own at this level.”

Murray made a perfect start to the turf season when Power Blue made all to win the two-year-old maiden by three and three quarter lengths under Egan, in the colours of the LNA Racing Syndicate. Murray, Amo and Giselle De Aguiar had won the previous two runnings with Arizona Blaze – who subsequently won a Group 3 and went close at the Breeders’ Cup – and Bucanero Fuerte, who conquered the top level in the Phoenix Stakes.

The 2024 victor returned to winning ways at Dundalk earlier this month, continuing a fruitful all-weather season for connections. “They’re in great order,” McElligott agreed. “Obviously, we had a great couple of months in Dundalk and the season started well there with a winner for Adrian on Sunday. We’re hoping we can keep up that momentum.”
