TOMORROW’s BoyleSports Munster National will feature a charity sweepstake supported by J.P. & Noreen McManus and family, which will see charities across the mid-west benefit from the significant pool. Each of the charities will be allotted a horse in the BoyleSports Munster National, with the winning charity benefiting from a €20,000 donation and second and third place receiving €3,000 and €2,000 respectively. Each of the remaining charities will also receive a €1,000 donation towards a specific project or initiative.

J.P. McManus himself has two horses declared, including the Willie Mullins-trained top-weight Janidil. Peter Smithers will claim 7lb off the 10-year-old, who won a Grade 1 back in 2021, but has been winless since February 2023.

The owner’s other representative, Perceval Legallois, must also return to form, with Gavin Cromwell’s charge a well-beaten favourite in the Kerry National and Galway Plate on his last two starts.

“Perceval Legallois disappointed a little bit in the Kerry National but we’re hoping he bounces back. He’s going well at home,” Cromwell told The Irish Field on Friday. Mark Walsh is booked to ride, he having partnered the seven-year-old on his career-best performances when landing a valuable Grade B hurdle at Leopardstown and finishing second in a listed chase at Punchestown.

Yeah Man completes Cromwell’s two-pronged attack on the €100,000 feature, on his first start since April. “Yeah Man summered well,” Cromwell reported. “It’s his first run back so whatever he does on Sunday, he’ll come on for it. We’re hopeful he’ll run well.”

The John Brennan and Martin Hannan-owned gelding ran well on his first start last season, having fallen when two lengths behind the leader at the final fence in the valuable Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot. He went on to finish second in another Grade 3 at the track next time out, before landing the Grand National Trial at Haydock. Keith Donoghue takes the ride tomorrow.
