THE four big races across Ireland and Britain this weekend all contain odds-on favourites and many punters will be bunching them together in the hope of making a decent return.

A €10 accumulator on State Man (1/4), Shishkin (8/13), Bravemansgame (4/5) and Galopin De Champs (4/9) works out at between 4/1 and 5/1.

Barry Orr of Betfair said: “At that price we wouldn’t take too much hurt but it could be a ‘bad-ish’ result as we are offering a completely free bet on horse racing multiples this weekend and invariably customers will do all four, or a variation of them, with their free bet.

“In terms of vulnerability, I think Shishkin could be the one turned over. Pic D’Orhy will be primed to the minute for this race and I’m not sure you can say the same about Shishkin.”

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Because they are all odds-on we’d obviously want to get them beaten but they aren’t big enough prices to make it disastrous on their own. Also the fact that Galopin Des Champs runs Sunday will mean he won’t feature in a lot of Saturday bets, thankfully!

“I’d say Shishkin is the most likely of the four to let punters down. He was beaten on his seasonal reappearance last year and can throw in a poor jumping performance, like he did at Cheltenham. He is the sort of horse who definitely wins at his best but whether he is one you can trust at odds-on these days is debatable.”
