THE Curragh has secured a further link-up with World Pool for 2025, which is likely to deliver a six-figure dividend for the racecourse.

World Pool is a collaboration between global totes and the Hong Kong Jockey Club. It allows bettors from at least 28 countries to bet into a single pool. World Pool says it has contributed €60 million to British and Irish racecourses since 2019.

Only racedays which include a Group 1 race on the flat can be included in World Pool and in 2021 Leopardstown became the first Irish racecourse to take part. Almost €23 million was bet into World Pool on Irish Champion Stakes day that year and the track is thought to have earned €500,000 as a result.

Last year the Curragh’s Irish Derby day was a World Pool event and part of the Irish 1000 Guineas card. This year the World Pool calendar has been expanded to include all of Irish 2000 Guineas day and four races on the Curragh’s Irish Champions Festival card.
