THE Most Stylish competitions on Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby day were won by Anne-Marie Corbett from Mitchelstown, Co Cork, and Stuart O’Reilly from Naas, Co Kildare.

However, one of the big talking points was the Lego headpiece worn by Laura Hanlon from Roscommon, which was created by her nine-year-old son Alex Doolan.

Alex might well have been the best dressed man himself at the races and was brought on stage by the judges to be interviewed by our own Brendan McArdle. Alex revealed he might go into fashion full-time and was rewarded for his efforts with a special prize from The K Club.

His mum Laura is a milliner and has won some best dressed prizes herself at the races over the years, along with supplying other winners with their headpieces.

Laura’s headpiece featured colorful flowers and was made entirely out of Lego. The Roscommon woman paired it with a stylish yellow dress and simple pearl earrings.

Cork woman Anne-Marie Corbett took home the prize for the Most Stylish Lady competition (see photograph on page 32). For her striking all-red look, the Mitchelstown native took home a host of prizes including flights and a five-night stay in Dubai Duty Free’s five-star hotel, The Jumeirah Creekside.

The Most Stylish Man was Stuart O’Reilly from Naas. Just arrived from Australia, he wore a Remus Uomo suit.

His prize was a five-star K Club VIP experience, including a two-night stay in a luxury suite with breakfast each morning and dinner on both evenings. He also received a €500 Kildare Village voucher.

The competition, which was held in association with The K Club, was judged by television personalities Lottie Ryan and Arthur Gourounlian.
