GARY Carroll was due to ride at the Breeders’ Cup last night and he had an unusual preparation by going out hunting with the Ward Unions last weekend.

The jockey and his wife Joanne Quirke were there to support their children, who were taking part in the lead rein section of the hunt’s Hallowe’en meet, which was held in their own yard. Gary laid the drag for the older kids.
