KILLARNEY Racecourse will stage its three-day ‘AugustFest’ from the 24th to the 26th (Thursday to Saturday) this month. It starts a couple of days after the Rose of Tralee Festival ends.

Thursday’s flat card starts at 5pm and features the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Vincent O’Brien Ruby Stakes. There will be live music on the lawn during racing from Resolute. The entertainment continues after racing in the Jim Culloty Bar from covers band Best of Friends.

Jump racing dominates Friday’s card though the Jim Ryan Memorial Flat Race on that card deserves special mention. The late Jim Ryan played a vital role in the raceday operations at Killarney for many years and his racecourse services company continues to serve the track well. Friday’s off-track entertainment will be provided by Tom Cats, DJ Brendan Fuller and Radio Kerry, which will stage an après racing party.

There’s more jump racing on the Saturday, which is Kellihers Toyota Ladies Day. The best dressed lady will win €1,500 in cash and this will be judged by Jennifer Wrynne.

Once again Tom Cats will be performing on the lawn during racing, followed by Phil ‘n The Blanks after racing.
