Secret Magician

(M. Hassett)

Curragh, September 24th

After struggling in the Bold Lad this three-year-old bounced back to form to finish a creditable third in a well contested seven-furlong handicap won by Half Nutz. He has shown in the past that he enjoys easy ground and he should be able to win again before the end of the season.

Thalara

(K.J. Condon)

Curragh, September 25th

This Irish 1000 Guineas entrant went off a big price for her debut at the Curragh late last month but belied her position in the market to be beaten less than three lengths into fourth in the maiden won by Espionage.

She will be of considerable interest if turning out in another maiden.

You Send Me

(J.A. Stack)

Curragh, September 25th

She had to settle for fifth when making her debut in a median auction maiden won by Starry Heavens but shaped quite nicely in staying on from the rear in a race which favoured those ridden close to the pace.

It would be no surprise if she improved sufficiently to win a maiden before the end of the campaign.

Rare Middleton

(A. Oliver)

Curragh, September 25th

He made a very pleasing start to his career when beaten just half a length by Zoffman in a 24-runner 10-furlong maiden 13 days ago. This effort would suggest that a maiden success can come his way shortly and he looks a horse with a bright future.

The Prairie

(A.P. O’Brien)

Killarney, October 1st

A son of Galileo and the Irish 1000 Guineas winner Again, this colt shaped quite well behind stablemate Gulf Of Mexico when finishing fourth in a maiden over an extended mile.

He put in some decent late work and the benefit of this initial experience could see him take beating in a maiden before the end of the season.

Fashion Flare

(J.S. O’Donoghue)

Killarney, October 1st

She made excellent progress from her midfield debut at Fairyhouse last month to finish a head second to the 71-rated The Vik in a mile maiden last weekend. There could easily be more to come from her and a maiden success could be within her reach shortly.

So Scottish

(E. Mullins)

Tipperary, October 3rd

He is hardly the most original choice having impressed with a victory in a rated novice chase.

However, the style of his success and the manner in which he brushed aside more experienced opponents was striking.

It wouldn’t come as any surprise to see him feature prominently in a major handicap chase this season.

Southerner

(W. Cronin)

Galway, October 4th

A lightly raced 12-year-old who has won three of his 15 career starts, he began his season with a creditable third to Hgranca De Thaix in a handicap hurdle on Tuesday. He was only beaten three parts of a length for second and he handles testing ground well so he should do better as the season progresses.

Drummin Life

(W. McCreery)

Thurles, October 6th

She was well supported for her debut in a mile maiden on Thursday and ran very creditably to finish third to Foniska. The first and second in this race both lined up off good placed runs which would suggest this was quite a reasonable maiden and Drummin Life showed more than enough to suggest that she will be able to make her mark in a maiden.

Moonlit Mist

(J.G. Murphy)

Thurles, October 6th

This daughter of Australia was never able to land a telling blow after a slow start in an auction maiden won by Village Voice. However, in a race where it paid to be up with the pace she was noted putting in some excellent late work and this represented a bright start to her career. She should progress substantially as a result of this initial experience.
