AS part of our ongoing support of Irish Injured Jockeys and their Corinthian Challenge Charity Race Series this week we caught up with Anna Cropper to give her the opportunity of a profile piece and to assist with her fundraising efforts.

Anna Cropper has lived in Kildare for many years and has been involved in racings since 1997.

As a child she competed in pony club events and had her own horses. Her love of horses brought her to work full time in racing as a stable hand and exercise rider in both flat and national hunt yards here in Ireland and the UK.

Anna attended the Northern Racing College in Doncaster, gaining NVQ Levels 1-3 & Modern Apprenticeship in Race Horse Care and Management. She has worked for many years with John Oxx and been involved with racing since 2012, she is currently riding out for Martin Brassil and John Hanlon.

“The past few months have been very exciting, taking part in the Corinthian Challenge and fundraising on behalf of the Irish Injured Jockeys,” Cropper commented.

“I think everyone in racing knows the excellent work done by Irish Injured Jockeys and to be able to contribute to this whilst also getting to enjoy the challenge of taking to part in the series is a fantastic opportunity.’’

Michael Higgins, IIJ General Manager said: “The Corinthian Challenge is Irish Injured Jockey’s major annual fundraising event and we are so grateful to all of those who take part, it is a major commitment and the funds they raise are vital to our charity and all that we do here in Irish Injured Jockeys.

“We would like to take this opportunity to wish Anna and all of this year’s challengers the very best of luck ahead of the final race at Leopardstown next weekend.”

With two races under their belts, it is all still to play for as the 11 riders prepare for their final race in Leopardstown next Saturday. so it’s building nicely to a climax.
