AS part of The Irish Field’s support of Irish Injured Jockeys, the second rider to get the leg-up in our Corinthian Challenge profiles is Jansseen Hill.

Jansseen hails from Co Antrim and is both a keen rider and boxer. A familiar face in the racing industry, Jansseen has extensive experience working with young horses at sales across Ireland.

She rode her first winner for Wilson Dennison in a point-to-point race in March 2023. In additions Jansseen also holds two Irish Amateur Boxing titles. Yes, you read that correctly, not one but two Irish Amateur Boxing titles!

Jansseen is extremely dedicated to her fitness and training which often involves three to four gym sessions per day. She has seen at first-hand the commitment and dedication that jockeys invest on a daily basis.

She knows that hard work and dedication is required and is not afraid of the challenge she faces over the next few months.

Speaking at the 2023 Corinthian Challenge launch, Jansseen commented on her reasons for taking up the challenge: “Physical injury and psychological stress is something these athletes are sure to face throughout their career and I want to help by raising funds and awareness for the Irish Injured Jockeys fund.

“This autumn we will get a sense of what jockeys love doing and really experience it from their perspective, which is extremely exciting, and I am very much looking forward to the challenge!”

Jansseen is eager to help Irish Injured Jockeys raise funds as she understands the strength and fitness required from these amazing athletes.

We all know injuries in any sport can be devastating, both mentally and physically. For our jockeys it is a vital fund to have in place to support them when the going gets tough. Jansseen is thrilled to be able to assist and play her part to help this very worthwhile cause.

Raise awareness

The Corinthian Challenge is a charity race series run by Irish Injured Jockeys Fund to raise awareness and much needed funds for the national charity.

All challengers who applied to participate in the series have been put through their paces as part of a thorough interview process, completed an assessment at RACE to ensure they are competent in the saddle and they each have a target of €10,000 to raise via their Enthuse page too.
