MARK Costello has been appointed Editor of The Irish Field.

From Nenagh in Co Tipperary, Mark joined the company in 1992 and covered racemeetings and point-to-points all over the country until 2003 when he was appointed Deputy Editor following the sale of The Irish Field by The Irish Times to The Agricultural Trust.

Mark was appointed Editorial Manager in 2016 and General Manager in 2018.

“It is a great honour to take on the role of Editor of such a superb and well-respected publication,” he said. “For over 150 years The Irish Field has served the racing, bloodstock and equestrian sport sectors, providing coverage of a very high standard. I am committed to ensuring those standards are maintained.

“We have a great team, both in the office and on the road. On a daily basis their dedication to The Irish Field is inspiring and we are constantly looking at ways in which we can improve the service we provide.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank every reader and every advertiser for their continuing support. We love nothing more than hearing your ideas and telling your stories.”

William Minchin, chief executive of The Agricultural Trust, owner of The Irish Field and Irish Farmers Journal, said: “Mark’s appointment as Editor reflects his talent, dedication, and passion for equestrian journalism. We are confident that his vision, combined with his leadership and knowledge of the industry, will drive The Irish Field to new heights, ensuring that our readers receive the highest quality content across all platforms.”
