Magnum Force showed a superb turn of foot to take the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Del Mar on Friday.

The Ger Lyons-trained colt took a neat line to lose very little ground from stall four in the hands of Colin Keane.

In the straight he was tucked behind the leaders but accelerated to pull away and secure a comfortable success on the line.

Fellow Irish raider Arizona Blaze took second for trainer Adrian Murray, while Aidan O'Brien's Whistlejacket ran on late for fifth spot.

It was a first Breeders' Cup success for Lyons and a second for Keane, who rode Tarnawa to win the Turf for Dermot Weld a couple of years ago at Keeneland.

Magnum Force is a colt by Mehmas out of Tropical Rock (by Fastnet Rock) for Ralph Beckett and Jeff Smith in 2016. The mare was sold in 2020 for 38,000gns.

Sheikh Abdulla Bin Isa Al-Khalifa bred and ownd Magnum Force.
