12.38 Paddy Power From The Horse’s Mouth Podcast Maiden Hurdle 2m 60y

Jane Eire can make up for an unlucky second at Gowran Park by going one place better. Having been hampered on the approach to the last, the Henry de Bromhead-trained filly stayed on strongly on the run-in to get within a short-head of the winner. Granted better luck in running here, the daughter of Balko can open her account.

A dual winner on the flat in France, Grimaud has to be a contender on his debut for Gordon Elliott. With both victories coming on soft ground, any rain that falls prior to the race would be very welcomed by connections.

SELECTION: JANE EIRE

Next best: Grimaud

Mount Ferns won with enough in hand at Listowel on his Irish debut to suggest that he can follow up. The Eric McNamara-trained gelding travelled strongly through that race, before picking up well to score by two lengths.

A better jump at the final flight would almost certainly have increased that winning margin. Raised 9lb as a result, the six-year-old could still be ahead of the handicapper.

Limerick runner-up Morepowertoya can reverse form with his conqueror Redcliff Glen on revised terms. Having been headed at the last, Paul Power’s gelding rallied strongly on the run-in to just lose out by a neck.

SELECTION: MOUNT FERNS

Former point-to-point and bumper winner Meet My Loreley can register a first success over hurdles. The Barry Connell-trained seven-year-old failed to get involved on her first three starts since going jumping, but shaped much better when second at Fairyhouse recently. A reproduction of that effort should be good enough.

With an official rating of 112, Grooveykindoflove sets a fair standard. Runner-up on her last three starts, the Henry de Bromhead trained five-year-old should be capable of winning her maiden hurdle.

2.10 Paddy Power “How Many Days ‘Til Christmas?” Irish EBF Novice Hurdle (Listed) 3m 100y

An expensive failure on his hurdling debut at Galway recently, The Enabler can recover losses. Gordon Elliott’s former listed bumper winner proved no match for a very progressive flat horse over an inadequate two miles. Now faced with an extra mile, the former point-to-point runner-up should be in his element granted a stamina test.

The Willie Mullins-trained Paggane rates the main threat. A proven stayer, who has won on good ground, the five-year-old is a consistent mare who seldom fails to give her running.

SELECTION: THE ENABLER

Jesse Evans can make it two from three over fences. Third on his chasing debut at Killarney in August, the Noel Meade-trained eight-year-old improved from that experience to run out a comfortable winner at Galway next time. Easily the best of these over hurdles, the So You Think gelding can take this step up in grade in his stride.

Runner-up to Jesse Evans at Galway, Shecouldbeanything has gone on to win her next three starts. A progressive mare, who now has plenty of experience over fences, the Gordon Elliott-trained seven-year-old has every chance of turning the tables.

3.15 Paddy Power Cork Grand National Handicap Chase (Listed) 3m 4f

Leinster National runner-up Positive Thinker has bright prospects of going one better in the Cork equivalent. The Michael McDonagh-trained seven-year-old appears to have been laid out for this prize. Following a promising fourth over hurdles at Fairyhouse in April, he was put away for the summer, before having a recent prep in a handicap hurdle at Roscommon.

Sir Bob has every chance of backing up his win in this race from 12 months ago. Although now in the veteran stages of his career, the Robert Tyner-trained gelding has found a new lease of life in the last two years.

SELECTION: POSITIVE THINKER

3.50 E. Tarrant & Sons Banteer Handicap Hurdle 2m 4f

The Eric McNamara-trained Mag Dillane can improve three places on her recent Limerick effort. Having made a mistake two out, the mare stayed on strongly to take minor honours close home. Only for that error at the penultimate flight, the daughter of Soldier Of Fortune would have been very much involved in the finish.

Duke Otto shouldn’t be far away, having hinted in recent starts that he is ready to strike again. Pat Flynn’s gelding has yet to win over this trip, but gives the impression that he should appreciate it.

SELECTION: MAG DILLANE
