1.50 Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden 6f

There are a couple of smart maidens in this opening contest and She’s Quality is one of them. Jack Davison’s filly ran with real credit first time out when third to hot prospect Ylang Ylang at this track and she defied big odds again when fourth to Kairyu in the Group 3 Anglesey last month. If she can run to that standard again, she’ll be tough to beat.

Navassa Island found only Porta Fortuna too good on debut and ran with credit when finishing in mid division in the Albany, albeit beaten further by her earlier rival. She has a little to prove now after disappointing when odds-on for a Leopardstown maiden on her latest run, finishing fourth to Bellezza. Of the newcomers, Letsbefrankaboutit makes appeal for Paddy Twomey - he cost €240,000 as a breeze-up horse for his Galway Plate-winning connections.

Bang Po ran a clear career best when second to Fratas at Galway and he can go one better now. Ross O’Sullivan’s gelding had to race from stall 19 but made stealthy headway to get himself involved in the second half of the one-mile contest and emerged with penty of credit. A 2lb rise looks more than fair.

The Niarchos Family-owned pair, Es Vedra and Yuzu, look dangerous given their unexposed profiles but Rhythm King gets the second vote. Mark Fahey has his team in top order and this gelding showed really good form to win at Bellewstown and finished third in the Blackwater Handicap at Naas earlier in the season.

This could go to New Phenomenon. Jessica Harrington’s filly defied expectations when running a close second to Dawn Session at Gowran Park in early June, and given time to develop further, she could strip a much improved proposition now. She is a half sister to the same stable’s useful Ace Aussie.

Kadeen is noted also. The Mick Halford and Tracy Collins-trained colt ran with real credit when third to The Black Tiger over this course and distance and improvement is likely now on his second start of the season, and third overall. Ultra Fine went down by a head to Voice Of Reason at Killarney and that represented a decent improvement from his maiden effort, so he has to be considered now.

3.20 La Celia Wines Handicap 1m 2f

This is very competitive but Mr King’s profile stands out the most. Ger Lyons’s gelding improved significantly from finishing second in a Gowran Park maiden to winning on his handicap debut at Roscommon. He beat the consistent and progressive Picture Of A City on that occasion and a 7lb rise may not deter him.

Slieve Binnian could go well also. He bolted up in a Dundalk nursery last November and, having finished seventh on seasonal debut at Leopardstown, he caught the eye with his finishing effort over nine furlongs at this course on his previous run. Connections of Hasten Slowly have been patient in their search for a decent surface so she deserves a second look if running here, having done well to win at Naas on her previous run.

The step up to 10 furlongs could be the key for Unless to spring a mini-surprise. Aidan O’Brien’s filly has been really consistent this term hitting the frame on four of her five starts and finishing fourth in Sandringham Handicap on her penultimate start at Royal Ascot. She has been gradually progressive in her six runs so far this season, and, as a daughter of Justify, this longer trip might just help her to unlock further improvement.

Gozen is an interesting contender for Michael O’Callaghan, making a belated seasonal debut. She won on her debut last season before finding only Lumiere Rock too good in a Group 3 at this course. Didn’thavemuchtodo has been a bit disappointing on both her two starts this season, for all that she didn’t get a clear run in a listed contest at Naas. If she can get back to her best - a sixth in the Group 2 Blandford Stakes - she will be right there.

It’s hard to get away from Londonofficecallin who seeks a fourth win in a row for Eric McNamara. The six-year-old has hit a rich vein of form, scoring over hurdles at Punchestown before notably proving too strong for the well punted Willie Mullins-trained Stoke The Fire at Down Royal. He went in again at Killarney last month and though 8lb higher now, he may well progress further.

Art Of Silence can give him most to do, having taken the notable scalp of Wordsworth over hurdles at Ballinrobe on his previous start. He returns to the flat now off a workable mark of 58. Nostra Casa is another to note, having done well on both of his starts since joining Paul Flynn - notably winning very well at Sligo.

Bella Blue Eyes can take this for Paddy Twomey. She did well to hold off the challenge of the well touted Eternal Silence at Leopardstown and though just got the job done at Killarney, she may well have idled in front before picking up again when she needed to. A better race and pace could well suit her and, while connections will ultimately be hunting blacktype with her, it may well have been the case that they felt her current mark of 88 is too hard to ignore in a handicap.

Ray Cody’s Lady Lunette is a big danger after she bolted up at Gowran last month. That followed a good second to Independent Expert at Limerick so she is clearly going the right way, though she may need the ground a little softer.
