2.00 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m 1f

It will be very surprising if Goodie Two Shoes can’t gain her first success over hurdles at the fourth time of asking. A very smart 100-rated performer on the flat, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly has the potential to make up into a decent hurdler this winter. While the four-year-old made a pleasing debut at Leopardstown in December and was highly tried in graded company next time, she was undoubtedly disappointing at Down Royal recently.

Silent Approach, who has been somewhat frustrating over hurdles to date, ran her best race when third in a listed contest here in May. A reproduction would see her go close.

Caoimhes Pet could prove to be a well handicapped mare if ready for this first start since February. Trainer Eoin McCarthy tends to target the Kerry tracks, so there has to be a strong chance that the six-year-old will be at her peak. An unlucky loser off just 3lb lower at Punchestown in December, she is good enough to win races this term.

The Shark Hanlon-trained seven-year-old gelding Leroy Leroy has been running very consistently in similar races of late. It looks just a matter of time before one comes his way.

Gortmillish, who has quickly been making up for lost time since returning from injury, can complete the hat-trick. A winning point-to-point horse, who was also placed in two bumpers, he missed 609 days through injury before making a successful comeback at Perth in June. Following another win in a stronger race at Downpatrick the following month, he bids for the three-timer here.

Solitary Man was an easy winner of a handicap hurdle at this track in July, before returning to finish fourth in novice company the following month. Although somewhat disappointing at the time, that form has since received a couple of boosts.

Londonofficecallin looks very well handicapped over hurdles given his improvement on the flat in recent starts. The Eric McNamara-trained gelding won very easily over flights on just his second run for the stable, then reverted to the level to win his next two outings. Following another highly commendable effort when fourth in a better race at the Curragh last time, he now switches back to jumping off a really inviting mark.

Walk Out has the scope to improve further over flights having run one of his better races when runner-up at Listowel last time. Stepping up further in trip could be the eye to gaining that elusive winning bracket.

Jack Holiday can gain quick compensation having just been denied over course and distance last time. The nine-year-old had tried to make the running but battled back admirably once headed after the last. Reunited with regular jockey Philip Byrnes now, he is actually 4lb lower once taking the latter’s claim into account.

Ricky Langford, who finished a place behind in third in the aforementioned race, should again prove a serious threat. The Philip Rothwell-trained gelding has been admirably consistent under both codes all season.

Movie King, who ran well under this jockey when third at Navan last month, could be the answer. A winner over hurdles and on the flat, the six-year-old looks well treated over fences having only had the two starts to date. It could well prove significant that connections have elected to switch him straight into handicaps without a third run.

Definiteadare, who impressed when winning over course and distance in August, has to be a contender. The ground was possibly too soft for the nine-year-old when he finished fourth at Listowel last month.

The Ross O’Sullivan-trained Ceanndana can get off the mark on just his second start over fences. A winner over hurdles at this track earlier in the season, the six-year-old made a very pleasing fencing debut when third at Downpatrick subsequently. Having got his eye in over two miles and two furlongs at the Northern venue, it looks a wise move stepping back up in distance here.

Battle Away, a stablemate of the selection makes her debut over fences at the age of 10. However, as a former point-to-point winner, the mare has already proven that she can jump the larger obstacles.
