1.20 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden 7f 23y

Azada is an interesting newcomer here and may well be worth chancing to make a winning debut. Dermot Weld’s filly is a half-sister to five-time Group 1 winner in Australia, The Autumn Sun, and a couple of other siblings in the family were able to win first time up. Weld has a good recent record in this race, most recently winning it last year with Tarawa.

Of those who have run, Fleur De Chine looked most interesting after a promising debut fifth in a hot maiden won by Kitty Rose at Naas, but soft ground may be problematic for her. Go Girl Go is noted as well. She was just a head away from making a winning debut at Navan last month and can improve from that.

SELECTION: AZADA

Guildenstern deserves another chance after a slightly disappointing run in the Goffs Million last time. That was his first start for Donnacha O’Brien, after he made a very pleasing debut for John Murphy when finishing a staying-on second to Diego Velazquez. In the Million, he missed the break and couldn’t get back into the race, finishing 11th of 23, which was hardly a disgrace. This looks more straightforward.

Master Of The Hunt was turned over at 4/11 at Listowel so has a little to prove now. Rocking Tree and Shamsuddin make appeal, particularly the latter who has improved on each of his three starts. Ger Lyons’ horse was just a short head away from winning at Navan.

SELECTION: GUILDENSTERN

2.30 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Nursery Handicap 7f 23y

Four of the five lining up were last-time-out winners so this looks competitive but Glamorously is the one they’ll likely have to beat. Jessica Harrington’s filly is on a hat-trick having come through late on to win the Birdcatcher at Naas last week. She got a 7lb raise but that could be negated by the step up to this trip considering she needed every yard at Naas and she has 10lb claimer Keithen Kennedy back on, with that rider having won on her already.

Basilah Bear won a nursery over a mile at Naas last month and has an 8lb penalty to shoulder. David Marnane’s filly will stay well providing she handles the likely soft ground conditions.

SELECTION: GLAMOROUSLY

Atlantic Coast is the one to beat coming off an excellent effort to finish third to Diego Velazquez over this course and distance in the Champions Juvenile Stakes. An impressive maiden winner at the Curragh, he was thrown into the deep end for that Group 2 but was sent off only 5/1 and more than held his own in a race that has worked out well, with the fourth home Deepone since winning the Group 2 Beresford.

Gloucester and The Carribean will probably run well both already looked exposed and it may be better chancing the less experienced Military or Bright Stripes. Slight preference is for the latter who has improved on each of her two starts since her maiden.

SELECTION: ATLANTIC COAST

Next best: Bright Stripes

3.36 Eyrefield Stakes (Group 3) 1m 1f

This race has the potential to throw up a nice winner and it should be informative, with a number of impressive maiden winners and Grosvenor Square representing the Beresford form. Zaphod was possibly the most impressive of all the maiden winners here, considering he was winning on debut and his four-length score over the 82-rated Rapid Mission was copper-fastened by the longer gap back to the third. He also recorded a smart time and showed his prowess on heavy ground, so there is a lot to like about him.

Naval Force also won his maiden first time out on heavy ground, showing plenty in his three-length defeat of the well regard Chantilly over a mile at Killarney. He should step forward from that is certainly feared.

SELECTION: ZAPHOD

Next best: Naval Force

It’s worth keeping an eye on the two Dermot Weld-trained debutants, Elizabeth Jane and Sara Valentina, who are both beautifully bred and could easily make a winning start, however, Andromeda may take all the beating now on her third start. She has finished runner-up on both of her runs thus far, most notably when finding only Opera Singer too good over this course and distance on her debut.

Henry de Bromhead’s Higher Leaves made a pleasing start to her career when fourth to Ezeliya at Cork, coming from further back than ideal. She reopposes with Whisper A Prayer, who finished third in that contest but may have had a better run of things up front.

SELECTION: ANDROMEDA

Next best: Higher Leaves

Kinesiology was only just touched off by Chief Little Rock over this course and distance and can go one better providing he handles the soft going. Jessica Harrington’s colt improved significantly from his debut eighth at Killarney to push the subsequent Autumn Stakes runner-up all the way, pulling nicely clear of the remainder. A repeat of that level of form should be good enough.

There are a number of interesting newcomers, including Blackpool, the first produce of Legatissimo to make the track. The Ballydoyle first string appears to be Ocean Of Dreams however, and this colt is related to a couple of blacktype performers. Raydamann, a Sea The Stars half-sister to Rizeena, also catches the eye on debut for Johnny Murtagh.
