1.20 Irish EBF Auction Series Fillies Maiden 5f 164y

Arinniti is taken to give Paddy Twomey another juvenile winner this season. Previously with Natalia Lupini, the daughter of Karakontie ran promisingly on her debut and sole start to date when finding only Excelia too good at Naas in June. She was presumably sourced by Twomey for her American owners Team Valor and given she has come through the system in Golden, you’d expect to see a significantly improved filly today.

Executive Decision is a threat. She finished seventh on her debut at Cork in July, in a maiden won by Easy, who was also subsequently moved on to Twomey’s yard. That filly goes for the Cheveley Park Stakes next, while the second and fourth in the race have won since, so it looks a good contest.

SELECTION: ARINNITI

1.55 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery 5f

Polar Bear is a tentative choice in this trappy nursery. The Kodi Bear colt is yet to win but has performed with credit on all five starts and also ran well at this course on his previous two runs. Earlier this season he has close form with the likes of Crispy Cat and Apache Outlaw, both rated significantly higher than his figure of 77. If he can put his best foot forward today, he will prove difficult to beat, and a first-time visor may help him to do that.

Silmaniya is unlucky not to have got his head in front yet, having finished second on his last three starts. The latest of those came against Tiger Paw, when just a short head split the pair at Cork. He has a 3lb pull at the weights with that runner here so should be able to reverse form at least.

Elanora may be able to get her first win of the season. She has hit the frame on three of her six starts this term, including in a decent looking handicap on her penultimate start, when she was third to Are We Dreaming and Only Spoofing at the Curragh. Significantly, she returns to the course and distance of her sole career win, having broke her maiden at this track last October.

Teddy Boy is also noted at one of his favourite tracks. Two of his three turf wins have come here and ran well enough when fifth at Naas recently to suggest he is competitive as ever in these types of handicaps. His trainer Eddie Lynam seems to be hitting a bit of form also, having sent out two winners in the last two weeks.

Showmolina is an obvious danger chasing his third win in four starts for Johnny Levins, while Eleuthera is noted for the same trainer having put up a number of good runs in defeat this season.

SELECTION: ELANORA

3.05 P.F. ‘Mutt’ Conlon Memorial Handicap 5f

Swift Flight is interesting here. Ken Condon’s gelding caught the eye when finishing fourth to Comingshaun at the Curragh on his previous run. Trying to make his ground from the rear, he hit traffic at a couple of significant stages before running on strongly late on.

That was just his third start of the season and his first after a mini break. Earlier he had finished second to Laugh A Minute at the Curragh, right at the start of the turf season in March. He has the talented Jamie Powell taking a very useful 7lbs off his back and he also has good Navan form, having just been touched off here in a maiden last season.

There are plenty in with a chance, especially Sablonne who reverts back to handicap company after two very good runs in blacktype races. She was second in a listed contest and not disgraced at all when a close seventh in a Group 3 at Naas just last month. She also has decent Navan form to her name and should go well off a mark of 95.

Only Spoofing also deserves a mention. He has held his form well since winning here earlier in the season and overall, his Navan record is very strong.

SELECTION: SWIFT FLIGHT

3.40 Irish EBF Champions Weekend Fillies Maiden 1m

Redressed may be able to build on a promising debut. Ger Lyons’s filly finished third to Believeinmiracles at Gowran Park, despite showing clear signs of inexperience late on as she made her challenge, and there was no shame in losing out to a couple of more experience fillies. She finished ahead of the favourite Zaniyka, who had plenty of experience, and you’d fancy she can confirm form with that filly today.

That said, Zaniyka is not without a chance, prior to her Gowran fourth, which came off a mini break, she reached the frame on all three of her starts this season and showed reasonable form doing so. Her experience will count for plenty here and it is interesting that she comes down in trip now.

Blazing Skies and Solar Breeze are two more who have shown ability so far and may not be far away.

SELECTION: REDRESSED

4.15 Gormanlough Apprentice Handicap (Div I) 1m 2f

It isn’t ideal Marvel Fan is 6lbs out of the handicap but she still looks well handicapped when you consider her improvement over hurdles towards the end of the jumps season. Tony Martin’s mare won at Gowran Park, finished second at Fairyhouse and looked set to score or go very close to winning a handicap hurdle at the Easter Festival back at the Meath track when she took a crashing fall at the last. She has a rating of 113 over hurdles now but essentially runs off 47 here, and if she is fit enough to do herself justice, she can go close.

Spirtuoso and Ta Na La both come in here off the back of good runs but Gracesolution is most feared of the remainder. Ross O’Sullivan’s mare put together back to back wins before finishing well beaten at Sligo on her previous start. However, she had excuses for that effort, namely the soft ground and longer trip, so she could bounce back today.

Sierra Nevada can get off the mark in this lowly handicap. A well-bred daughter of Mastercraftsman, she failed to make a significant impact on her three maiden runs but found her level when encountering handicap company for the first time at Leopardstown, staying on well to take fourth behind Mads Black Eights last month.

She was 40/1 that day, suggesting little was expected, so it was a promising run.If she can progress now in what looks a softer heat, she’ll take all the beating.

Lily Of The Glen can give her most to do. She has hit the frame in her last two starts, both at Gowran Park, so she comes into this in good form for trainer Lee Smyth. The same applied to the Johnny Levins-trained Men Of Dreams who took his form to the highest level it has been at this term when third to Geological at Killarney.

SELECTION: SIERRA NEVADA

5.25 Jumps At Navan 17th September Handicap 1m 6f

Plenty of these have good jumps form and make lots of appeal off potentially attractive marks back on the flat, but none more so than Sil Ver Klass. Tony Martin’s gelding has been in really good form over both hurdles and fences, most recently finishing third in a €70,000 handicap hurdle at Galway. He can race off a mark of 48 on the flat; his last win in this sphere actually came over this course and distance, off a 3lb-higher rating.

Swelltime is another course-and-distance winner who should go well, having already taken advantage of his lowly flat mark after a win over hurdles in Kilbeggan. However, Benz may be more dangerous. Gordon Elliott’s gelding won his maiden hurdle at Tramore and then found only the well-handicapped Imperial Choice too good here last week, finishing clear of the remainder.
