12.15 Molony Cup Handicap Chase 3m 219y

Fill The Tank looks to hold strong claims on his return to chasing off a mark of 95. Aengus King’s nine-year-old, who has won twice over hurdles since last seen over fences, arrives here in excellent form. A former winning point-to-pointer, he has also been successful over regulation fences off 11lb higher so everything seems in place for a big run.

Dorans River is in the veteran stages of his career at this point but the Philip Rothwell-trained gelding shaped encouragingly when staying on late over a shorter trip here last month. A reproduction of that run should see the 13-year-old get involved.

Time Marches On may be able to follow up his win at Cork last time. The James Motherway-trained gelding had long promised to get his head in front before finally putting it all together at the Mallow venue. He remains on a relatively decent mark over fences, while Danny Gilligan is able to claim an additional 2lb in this contest.

Neveradullmoment also has to be of interest on handicap debut. The J.P. McManus-owned six-year-old is a winning hurdler and there was much to like about his recent fourth placed finish over fences at Wexford.

1.25 Thank You For Supporting Us In 2023 Maiden Hurdle

Jimmy Du Seuil, runner-up on his second start in France in September 2022, can make a winning Irish debut. Trainer Willie Mullins has an excellent record with similar French imports and a long absence is never cause for concern. Although the four-year-old holds no big race entries, he should be good enough to win his maiden at the very least.

Asian Master, also making his first start for the champion trainer, could provide the greatest threat. A dual point-to-point winner, the Shirocco gelding shaped with plenty of promise on two subsequent runs under rules.

2.00 Billy Harney Memorial Irish EBF Mares Novice Hurdle (Listed Race) 1m 7f 205y

Fun Fun Fun can retain her unbeaten record over hurdles by following up her recent win at this track. A leading bumper mare last season, the Willie Mullins-trained five-year-old was strongly fancied for the Cheltenham Festival, although she failed to give her true running on that occasion. Having really impressed when making a winning hurdling debut here last month, she should have no problem in this stronger contest.

Birdie Or Bust was somewhat disappointing at Down Royal last time but had gone a big race when third in a Grade 3 hurdle at Tipperary previously. The Henry de Bromhead-trained mare would have leading claims if able to reproduce that effort.

2.35 Wishing Everyone A Save & Happy Christmas Handicap Hurdle 1m 7f 205y

Bowmore lacks experience at this level but very much catches the eye off an opening mark of 121. Having shown promise on his opening two runs over flights, the Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding easily won a Wexford maiden hurdle on his third start. With the runner-up going on to frank that form next time, the Vadamos gelding stands out here.

Marvel Fan isn’t the easiest horse to catch right but Tony Martin’s seven-year-old ran one of her better races when second in this contest last year. Now 2lb lower, she again holds leading claims under Peter Carberry.

3.10 Horse & Jockey Hotel Rated Novice Hurdle 2m 7f

Kinbara will find this easier having finished fourth in a Grade 2 hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Prior to that, the John McConnell-trained gelding had impressed when winning his first two starts over flights. Now back in slightly calmer waters, it would be no surprise to see the five-year-old son of Mahler get his season back on track.

Bob Cigar made a winning handicap debut when successful at Punchestown recently. Although raised to a mark of 120 subsequently, the fact Danny Gilligan can claim 5lb off his back here makes the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding a serious threat.

Femme Magnifique can make a winning racecourse debut for Willie Mullins and owners Sullivan Bloodstock Limited. Runner-up on her sole point-to-point start, the five-year-old daughter of Champs Elysees obviously showed enough on that occasion to catch the eye of her new connections. She appears to have been presented with a nice opportunity to get her career under rules off to a successful start.

Pitwood Road, a point-to-point winner who subsequently finished second in a Tipperary bumper, looks the main danger. Terence O’Brien’s mare has shown a fair level of ability so is almost certain to be a leading contender.
