EXPRESSIONS of interest are invited for a fully-funded one-year Master of Science or Master of Veterinary Medicine programme at UCD Dublin. The aim of the project is to explore recent trends and current welfare concerns for donkeys and mules in Ireland. The project follows the themes of a project conducted in 2014-’15 by The Donkey Sanctuary, in collaboration with the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, evaluating:

  • the demographics of the donkey population on the island of Ireland, the economics of donkey breeding and trading,
  • real and perceived infectious disease threats associated with donkeys, key obstacles to optimum welfare for donkeys (in Ireland),
  • and the impact of inclusion of donkeys in agricultural subsidy schemes in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Please scan the QR code for more information.

The suitable candidate will have an honours degree in Equine Science, Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Medicine and be available to enrol full-time in this fully-funded programme at UCD. The preferred start date is May 1st, 2025.
