THE four-year-old Dublin Horse Show qualifier at Mullingar saw 94 youngsters try out for the eight places on offer. Judges Thomas Schonig from the Hanoverian Society and Roland Metz from the Holsteiner Verband marked each horse out of 200 marks on jumping technique/natural ability, future ability and rideability, and then divided the final score by two.

Junior rider Kian Dore (15) earned the highest score of 86.5 with Edel Dore’s Cape Tribulation (Womanizer x Cruising), a gelding bred by Peter Killeen.

Deane Rogan took the runner-up place with Declan McGarry’s Leestone Cascornet (Cornet Obolensky x Cascarillo), bred by John McKibbin, on a score of 83.5.

Gerard O’Neill’s Undeniably Dignified (Dignified Van’t Zorgvliet x Cruisings Micky Finn) was ridden to third place by Jason Foley, earning a score of 83 points. Pender booked yet another RDS ticket with Miguel Bravo and Brendan McSorley’s HHS Flonix (Aganix Du Seigneur x Clover Echo) when scoring 82 for fourth place.

Tadhg Mulligan was fifth with the Tommy Murray-owned and bred Patsy’s Favourite (Sligo Candy Boy x Mohill Cavalier Clover) on 81.5. Deane Rogan booked a second ticket with Declan McGarry’s MCG Carriere (Cascadello I x Canto), also on a score of 81.5.

Dominic Rice’s Premier Lily (Premier Sport x Balou du Rouet), ridden by Shane Treanor, earned 80 marks for seventh place, while Leah Stack rode GBBS Int Ltd’s home-bred BP Finn McCool (Luidam x Laughtons Flight) to another score of 80 which was enough to see them the final qualifying place.
